Usage limits#
During the beta there's a daily usage limit and a monthly one. The daily limit resets at midnight in your timezone, which pong works out from your phone number; the monthly one resets with your month. If you hit one, pong tells you.
Hosting an API#
An API sleeps with your computer by default, and a waiting API uses no hours. Hours count only while an API is the reason your computer is awake: when you've asked for it to stay up all the time or during a window like 10:00 to 14:00.

- Keeping an API up 4 hours a day is about 120 hours a month: the free 40 plus two top-ups, so CA$24.
- Past about 12 hours a day, always on is the cheaper choice.
- About an hour before the included hours and any top-ups are used up, pong texts you that the APIs are about to stop. When they are used up, the API sleeps until you add hours or turn on always on, and pong texts you that it has stopped, with the link to add hours.
Texting pong, opening the dashboard and real work on the computer never use hours. A website you publish stays up while the computer sleeps and doesn't use hours either. See Host an API.
Buy hours or always on
Open API hours on your dashboard, or tap Add hours on the computer page. Pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and the hours show up right away. Prices are in Canadian dollars.Bringing your own model#
Sign in with your ChatGPT plan and pong runs on the allowance you already pay for. A custom gateway is billed by whichever provider you point it at. See Developer console.
